A unique event will come to Shelton Intermediate School on Thursday. And if you love Social Studies or just want to know more about your country you will be able to experience a Naturalization Ceremony at the SIS Auditorium.

We asked Mr. Ayer, Dean of students and Curriculum Leader of Social Studies, about the upcoming ceremony. It’s on April 27th and there are two ceremony’s teaching us students about the important process of becoming a US citizen.

There will be two main speakers – Science Curriculum Leader Mrs.Genova (naturalized citizen) from Team Perseverance  and Shelton Mayor Lauretti.

According to Mr. Ayer, SIS is the first middle school in Connecticut to do this and the auditorium into a federal court room, including a Federal Judge and Marshall. It is a unique opportunity for students to learn about the the process of Naturalization and show how important it is. So save the date for Thursday May 27th!!
