On March 2, 2016, SIS participated in the National Education Association´s Read Across America Day.  This event is the largest reading event in United States and happens each year on or around the birthday of the beloved children´s author, Dr. Seuss.

SIS Reading Consultant, Mrs. Corris organized the event.  Each SIS homeroom had a member from the Shelton community come and shared a favorite book as well as some motivational words about the importance of reading.  Readers included Superintendent of Shelton Public Schools, Christopher Clouet,  Mayor Mark Lauretti, State Representative Jason Perillo, members of Shelton Public Schools Board of Education and Central Office, SIS staff, Shelton High school students and many more.
