Parkland, Florida tragedy inspires new #Hashtag for SIS

Do you believe in the importance of school safety? Shelton Intermediate School does! On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, SIS participated in the nationwide walkout which advocated school safety and changes in gun control laws, along with commemorating the  victims of the Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland, Florida school shooting. More than 3,100 schools participated in the walkout.

At 10:00 am, SIS stopped all classes, along with the rest of the nation. While some students participated in a structured walked out, SIS students stayed in our classrooms, talked about school safety, and listened to a brief message from Mr. Saranich about a new twitter hashtag, .

Mr. Saranich created this new hashtag to promote positive media surrounding things SIS is doing to get kids excited about learning.  So far the hashtag has featured interviews with students about their learning and a rap video about the Bill of Rights.  The new Twitter feed is available from the Shelton Intermediate School home page or by following
